Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 15, 2026 · Effective: February 1, 2026
1. Data We Collect
We collect information you provide directly: name, email, phone number, identity details needed for verification, payment information handled by our payment provider, vessel documentation, captain credentials, and communication preferences. We also collect basic usage information such as device, browser, pages visited, session duration, and interaction patterns. Location data is collected only when you enable it for marina or destination searches.
2. How We Use Your Data
Your data is used to: process bookings and payments, verify identities, match charterers with vessels and captains, send transactional emails and SMS, improve platform features through aggregate analytics, detect fraud and enforce our Terms, and respond to support requests. We do not sell personal data to third parties. We do not use your data to train AI models without explicit opt-in consent.
3. Payments
Payment card data is handled by our payment processor. HELM does not store full card numbers. When you register as a vessel owner or captain, payment and payout setup may be completed through that provider. HELM may receive limited payment information, such as transaction identifiers and payout status, for booking support and reconciliation.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to: access the data we hold about you, correct inaccurate information, request deletion of your account and associated data (subject to legal retention requirements), opt out of marketing communications at any time, and request data portability in machine-readable format. To exercise any of these rights, contact privacy@helm.io. We respond within 30 days.
6. Data Retention
Active account data is retained for the duration of your account. Upon account deletion, personal data is anonymized within 30 days, except where we are legally required to retain financial transaction records. Booking and support communications may be retained for dispute resolution and safety purposes.
